Arketi Group took the innovative approach of using a survey as a tool to position Oversight Systems as a thought leader on SOX compliance. The survey polled C-level executives on their opinions on a broad range of SOX-related issues. The results were then analyzed and published as the Oversight Systems Report on Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance.
Arketi used the report and underlying survey data to secure media placements and drive downloads of the report from Oversight’s website. Significant findings were also used as the basis for by-lined articles and fact sheets on newsworthy topics.
In addition, the reports are regularly used in sales situations, as call-to-actions on the Oversight website, in Oversight’s newsletter and on the company’s popular SOXMonitoring blog.
The success of this campaign has since inspired the development of more surveys examining risk management, corporate fraud and shared service centers.
Analysis of the survey data yielded more than 40 relevant data points for media pitching. Media coverage outpaced all expectations, reaching more than 5.9 million subscribers. In one year, media coverage of the survey campaign accounted for more than 85 percent of total media reporting on Oversight Systems.
The campaign earned more than 45 key media placements in such notable publications as USA Today, Investors’ Business Daily and Forbes. Even more significantly, data from the Oversight research reports was quoted by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (the government body that drafts SOX regulations), and in testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives – further cementing Oversight Systems’ position as an industry thought leader.
To date, more than 25,000 unique visitors have downloaded one of the seven Oversight Systems research reports. Additionally, 75 percent of the more than 770 financial executive survey respondents opted-in to Oversight’s marketing mailing list.
