Recognition highlights integrated public affairs campaign driving broadband access in rural America
ATLANTA – May 15, 2025 – Arketi Group and Cox Communications were honored with a Silver Anvil Award by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) for their public affairs campaign that spotlighted the economic and societal benefits of broadband expansion in underserved communities.
One of the public relations industry’s most prestigious awards, the Silver Anvil was presented in the Public Affairs category, which honors strategic programs that influence public policy or legislation at any level of government. Arketi and Cox earned top honors for their work engaging local officials and policymakers, driving education around the transformative impact of high-speed internet in rural communities.
The campaign not only sparked national conversation. It delivered tangible results. Cox Communications secured more than $72 million in government grants to deploy modern broadband infrastructure across Oklahoma and Florida. Additionally, the program generated 240+ earned media placements, over 1,100 syndicated articles, and drew a standing-room-only audience at events hosted by the National Association of Counties and National Press Club.
Most importantly, because of these efforts, Cox expanded broadband access to more than 60,000 unserved or underserved homes – creating new opportunities for education, healthcare, and economic development.
“Arketi’s ability to understand and translate the vision for what we aimed to accomplish into a powerful, compelling campaign made this entire process all the better,” said Matt Freeman, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Communications at Cox Communications. “They consistently anticipated our needs, adapted quickly to changes, and delivered exceptional results, ensuring our vision was not only met but exceeded with meaningful impact.”
“This recognition underscores the power of integrated communications to drive real-world impact,” said Mike Neumeier, APR, CEO of Arketi Group. “Working alongside Cox, we translated policy into progress, shaping public perception, mobilizing decision-makers, and ultimately helping connect tens of thousands of homes to high-speed internet. That’s the kind of work that defines Arketi.”
